The Tucson Roosters Youth team started 2016 as an extension of the Tucson Blackbirds High School program. We ensure that all players, regardless of skills, experience or age, get playing time and coaching focus. The team is open to all and enrollment is not limited to a school or school district. The objective is to introduce boys and girls to rugby through the non-contact version of the sport, then progress them safely to tackle. We hope for our players to embrace the fun and values of this great sport, and continue practicing it through high school and beyond. When looking up information about rugby, please note there are varying styles of the sport. We practice and play the Olympic version of the sport, 7’s Rugby.
The Tucson Blackbirds are one of three high school rugby teams in Tucson. We are part of the Arizona Youth Rugby Union which includes teams statewide. Our players have positive attitudes and are challenged physically and mentally each week. Our goal as a club is to develop competent and well-prepared young rugby players in a safe, fun and very competitive environment.
Tucson Thunderbirds is Tucson’s first and only rugby team for high school girls ages 13-19 in the greater Tucson, AZ area. We welcome players of all shapes, sizes and experience levels. We play rugby 7's and will be planning on growing to play 10s and 15s rugby. Come check out a practice!
